About Us
CAMRA is a nationwide campaigning organisation made up of over 140,000 volunteers working together to promote and protect real ale, cider, and perry and the fantastic pubs, clubs and other venues that serve them.
Birmingham CAMRA is one of over 200 local branches, made up of volunteers from across the city and from all walks of life. We are united together in the common cause to promote pubs within the city and championing the Campaign that has been instrumental in bringing cask ale, cider and perry to our local hostelries. Members give up their hard-earned time to do this and meet up with one another, mainly over a pint or two!
Although Birmingham, like many other cities and towns, has many pubs owned by big pub companies (or ‘pubcos’), there are many fine pubs: some are indeed part of a pubco, but we have many that are owned by small chains or are totally independent. The opportunity to drink so many different beers has never been greater. Yet Birmingham CAMRA is always forward looking and constantly wanting to better the city-wide ale and cider scene.
