See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Popular, music-centred pub alongside the canal and close to the NIA (Utilita Arena). The pub is useful for those attending shows at the arena and often has pre and post show events. Built in the 1950s, The Flapper was previously under threat from developers who wanted to close the pub and build housing in its place. At one point it was even closed long-term in an effort to prove the pub was unviable. But, following a failed planning appeal by the developers, the pub was reopened by staff in July 2021.
One permanent beer is served with two rotating guest ales. With one of the largest beer gardens in Birmingham and a balcony overlooking the longboats in Cambrian Wharf, it is the ideal location for sunny afternoons. Thursday night is Quiz Night, with a £1 entry cost.
The venue is card-payment only.
